Cadiz: a peninsula, sea everywhere, with 2 cities in one. Choose the one that's right for you. The 1st is the new town called"Puertas de Tierra", 8 km long. It sprang up in the 50s and 60s It looks like a seaside resort in summer, with the Atlantic and 3 large beaches in succession opposite the buildings and the paseo, with its bars, hotels and restaurants. The 2nd, the historic one, is almost round in shape, with its squares and alleyways. This is the Casco Antiguo, dating back 3,000 years. When we talk about Cadiz, we're talking about this one and its beach, La Caleta. We chose this one.
Driving through the province, towards Tarifa in the south, we're 14kms from Morocco as the crow flies. And an incredible view of the Tangier coastline.
Morocco is so close that you can pick up Tangier Med radio as you drive along, and telephone operators welcome you by text message.
🍀Cadix, 165 kms of cycle paths to go beyond Gibraltar.
🍀30° on average in summer. Never less than 10° in winter.
The weather is mild, warm but not scorching. That's thanks to the Atlantic sea air. So we call it Andalusian Brittany.
🍀Cadix, people who laugh often, we call them gaditans.
They're playful and happy. They love being together, they care for each other, and it shows. Young, old, dented...here there's no judgment, no sidelong glance. The laughter is always frank.
