FROM PARISIAN WOMEN TO "GUIRITANAS," WITH THE TIDES
From the call of Cadiz...
Our story with Cádiz began when we swapped our Paris apartment for Paco’sático (penthouse).
At that time, we knew nothing about Cádiz, except for an operetta tune called“La belle de Cadix,” which is now forgotten in France and little known in Cádiz.
... at the call of the tower
Oppositethe penthouse stands a watchtower. Perched on the neighboring roof, it must offer a spectacular panoramic view of the city and the sea.
We looked for the owner, found him, and lived in the tower for a week over Christmas. And for six summers, drawn just as strongly to the city, we watched it from Paco’spenthouse. Eventually, it passed (right under our noses) into the hands of a new couple.
But no one could have anticipated (who could have?)…COVID. The tower has lost its last student tenant.
For distraught landlords and savvy tenants.
It was a great opportunity, so we seized it and signed a long-term contract...
“GUIRITANAS” was born from the shared dream of two Parisian women who arrived in Cádiz on a blazing hot day in August 2015. Those two women are us: ELI and KARINE, who, over time, became the “GUIRITANAS.”
GUIRITANA (adj. and n. f.): Affective neologism, blended from the Spanish guiri + gaditana (inhabitant of Cadiz).
- The origin : In Cadiz, a guiri is someone who does not live in the Casco Antiguo, the historic district sheltered by the city walls.
- By extension : Refers to a foreigner, a tourist, someone who is not yet initiated.
- Today : State of grace of the foreigner who, delighted by her love of the changing light, smiles, and Atlantic mood, ends up feeling like a native of Cadiz.
Over time, Cádiz has become our second home.

What we brought in our suitcases.
We arrived in Cádiz withan open mind, ready to explore, meet new people, and challenge our preconceptions.
We’ve also brought two Parisian lifestyles together here: two careers, united in our agency—which specializes in content creation, event planning, and advertising campaigns—that we founded seven years ago. Two perspectives, two cultural backgrounds, and more than twenty-five years of experience each. It may seem like a small thing, but it makes all the difference in how we help you experience the city.
Eli is also ...
Eli, a versatile writer, has authored more than twenty books —both under her own name and for others—including works on politics, history, and essays. Her books are published by Alma Éditeur and Éditions de l’Archipel.
Intuitive, enthusiastic, and with a broad perspective, she writes economic features for brands in Challenges. For Sciences et Avenir, she has moderated health conferences for a public organization and, for the past eight years, has written profiles of researchers who have won prestigious awards from a foundation. She also leads editorial projects for brands and has expanded her scope to include writing scripts for motion design and interactive guides.
What's his thing? He hates stock phrases and clichés; he has a taste for the hybrid and the authentic.
Karine is also...
Karine, who is friendly and very outgoing, is
producer of cultural and corporate events: she seamlessly brings together brands, artists, and the public through her events.
In Paris, she coordinates sponsorship for the Tour de France of International Trade Leaders—a twelve-city tour culminating in a finale at the Ministry of the Economy in 2027— for the media outlet Le Moci, and develops brand content campaigns for Challenges, Sciences et Avenir, and Futura.
In Cádiz, she organized the event
“Rencontres Delacroix” , which brought together twenty artists from two countries along the Paris–Cádiz–Tangier route .
Her thing? Never chasing after algorithms; she prefers real encounters at unique events that leave a lasting impression.
