October 2025: 20 artists, 2 cities, a blend of perspectives

On October 25 and 26, 2025, we organized the unique cultural event “RENCONTRES DELACROIX”: 10 painters from Paris and 10 painters from Cádiz explored the city of Cádiz, following in the footsteps of Eugène Delacroix. This artistic journey aimed to build a cultural bridge between Paris, the Andalusian city, and Tangier. Between urban sketching sessions on the rooftop terrace of Las Guiritanas and moments of culinary enjoyment, the artists produced 50 vibrant works inspired by these encounters.

Paris said yes before anyone else

It all began with a meeting in Cádiz in September 2024 between Karine and Anne Hidalgo, then mayor of Paris. The City of Paris supported the project, followed by the City of Cádiz. Then the Eugène-Delacroix National Museum got involved. The Association of Belleville Artists’ Studios brought together the Parisian artists. Andthe French Institute in Seville made it possible for the entire delegation to immerse themselves in Cádiz.

We handled the logistics with Cécilio Chaves, an official painter from Cádiz, in partnership with the boutique hotel Villa des Andas, the restaurant El Tío de la Tiza, and the tea room and pastry shop Le Poème: accommodations, transfers, lunch, dinner, and breakfast on our rooftop terrace. Everything was designed so that the artists could simply observe, feel, paint, and share.

In Paris, the artists discovered the spirit of the Spanish islands at the La Finca Spa Hotel, and the Eiffel Tower was lit up to celebrate—with champagne—their reunion with the Parisian artists during a cruise on the Seine.

TANGIER

Cádiz's sister city is the natural next step following the Delacroix Encounters that we are currently organizing.

A CERTAINTY

Cádiz can be much more than just a stop on a tourist route. It is the epicenter of the Paris–Cádiz–Tangier route that we have envisioned.

A commitment that is close to our hearts

A portion of the proceeds from the Rencontres Delacroix is donated to Greendale para todos, a Cádiz-based nonprofit led by Esperanza Gutiérrez. The organization offers community workshops, educational podcasts, initiatives for women in the LGBTQIA+ community , and programs to support the integration of migrants. This is our way of giving back to Cádiz what it has given us.
