Las Ketchup: did you know?

Anda-luz!

Las Ketchup is the name of an Andalusian group from Cordoba, initially made up of three sisters. They released their summer 2002 hit " The Ketchup Song". The Ketchup Song or "or "Aserejé in the Spanish version. Impossible to miss, we all danced to it. Almost 8 million records sold, number 1 in twenty countries.

First riddle:why the name Las Ketchup?

Because their father is a famous flamenco guitarist called "El Tomate". You should have thought of that!

Second riddle:
Who's behind the lyrics?

"Aserejé, ja deje tejebe tude jebere. Sebiunouba majabi an de bugui an de buididipí".

We agree, it's hard to understand.
But there's a hidden meaning.
Let's take a look at the lyrics. It's about Diego and his addiction to drugs and hallucinogens, which make the chorus incomprehensible.

The song opens with: "Look what's coming around the corner, Diego's coming zigzagging".
"With the moon in his pupils, and his turquoise suit, he's carrying remnants of contraband".
In other words, he's completely "stoned".

He heads for the discotheque. The club is packed: "And where there's no room for a soul, that's where he infiltrates, possessed by the rhythm of 'rakatanga'".
The DJ knows Diego well. He plays his favorite song. And Diego...
"And he dances it.
And he likes it.
And he sings it.

But Diego sings badly because he's taken too many... mushrooms!

So what's Diego's favourite song?
It starts with:
"I said-a hip, hop, the hippie, the hippie"...
" Aserejé, ja deje tejebe tude jebere"...
..." To the rhythm of the boogie, the beat"...
..." Sebiunouba majabi an de bugui an de buididipí"...

You've got it? ➽ Sayyyy whaaaat?
